What is storySCAN and how does it work?
storySCAN is an IoT-based guide system that delivers location-based audio stories using QR codes or NFC tags. When scanned or tapped, they trigger a responsive web page or an ESP32 soundbox to play audio content relevant to the exhibit.
How can admins add or manage exhibits?
Verified admins can log in to the portal, upload audio files, descriptions, images, and assign an optional NFC ID. A dynamic story page is created along with a downloadable QR code.
Do visitors need to install any app?
No apps are needed. Visitors can scan the QR code using their phone camera or tap the NFC tag (if supported by the device), and the content opens in their default browser.
What kind of hardware does the storySCAN soundbox use?
The soundbox is powered by an ESP32 microcontroller, equipped with NFC (e.g., PN532), a speaker via DAC, and internet connectivity via Wi-Fi or SIM module. It fetches and plays audio stories when triggered.
Can storySCAN be used in places other than zoos?
